Today's Idiom:

the check is in the mail: Used as an excuse, when something goes wrong
Meaning: I sent you something, and it is not my fault if you did not receive it.

Example:
Johnny: Roger, where's the money you owe me?
Roger: I am surprised you did not get it. The check is in the mail.

Example:
Teacher: LuAnne, you were supposed to send me your homework yesterday.
LuAnne: Teacher, I sent it. The check is in the mail.
Teacher: That is not a good excuse. You get an F. I will see you again in summer school. Crying or Very sad
