"Beef" Idioms - 29 January 2010
Today I have idioms about "beef".
1. What's the beef? What is you complaint; what is wrong?
2. Where's the beef? Something is missing or lacking. There is no substance.
3. To have a beef. to quarrel or fight.
Examples:
1. Lakesha: Avril, you complain all the time. What's the beef?
Avril: Nothing, Lakesha, I just like to complain.
2. Teacher: Nigel, I told you to write a paper on your home life, but all you wrote was, "I like to play". Where's the beef?
Nigel: Sorry, teacher, but when I am home all I do is play.
Teacher: I understand, but you did not explain what you play.
3. Bobby: Where is Tommy today? He didn't come to school.
Ritchie: Tommy was suspended for two days. He had a big beef with Alvin.
